Chief Cassidy's press release:
On Tuesday, February 16 at 10:05 PM, the Holliston Fire Department responded to a report of a garage fire on Westfield Drive. Upon arrival of public safety personnel, the sole occupant of the attached home had already safely evacuated and confirmed the building was unoccupied. Fire crews quickly extinguished the fire and successfully prevented it from spreading into the residence. There were no injuries, and the property was turned back over to the homeowner.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. The damage was estimated at $100,000.
According to Fire Chief Michael Cassidy, crews encountered significant obstacles on the property while fighting the blaze. “The recent ice storm had brought down tree branches which were partially blocking access around the walkway to the front door,” explained Cassidy. “Fortunately, we knew everyone was out of the house, and did not have any life safety concerns, except for our personnel operating at the scene.”
