Officers of Holliston Police Department will be recognized for their outstanding performance at tonight's Board of Selectmens' meeting.

RE:  LIFE SAVING AWARD (Medical Emergency Call on August 5, 2016)

Sergeant Chad Thompson,

Upon the recommendation of Lieutenant David Gatchell, which I whole heartedly agree and endorse, I am pleased to announce that you are hereby honored with our Department’s Life Saving Award for your extraordinary efforts on a medical emergency call during the evening of August 5, 2016. You, along with Officer Andy MacGray and Officer Scott Downey, responded to a “man passed out in his car” call involving a young man in a vehicle at a busy intersection in town. The man was alone in the vehicle and unresponsive, and he had to be removed from the car after breaking a window. After carrying him to the side of the roadway, and based on what you observed at that time, you worked with your fellow officers to prepare and administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation and to employ the automatic external defibrillator on this man who was not breathing and without a noticeable pulse. You also, with Officers MacGray and Downey administered naloxone to the patient. Upon receiving this medication the patient became conscious, he refused medical treatment or transport, and eventually walked away from the scene.

We are extremely proud of your performance on this call, and I’m sure the patient’s family is eternally grateful for what you have done.

Thank you for upholding the high standards of this organization, and please know that your actions are duly noted, tremendously respected, and publically recognized for their contribution to public safety.

Respectfully Awarded to You,

Chief John J. Moore

Note: Officers Scott Downey and Andy MacGray were also individually recognized.
